A beginner's class in jazz dance
This introduction to jazz dance includes terminology and history, basic jazz steps, and conditioning skills. A good ballet background is important. The course also includes the conditioning skills necessary to become a strong dancer. At the end of the course, students will perform a 2-3-minute routine incorporating skills learned.
For Intermediate Students of Jazz Dance
In addition to history and terminology, students will begin an introduction to intermediate jazz steps, such as chasse, relevee, tondue, plie, grand jete and double pirouette, as well as leaps, splits and more. Students will also work on conditioning skills needed to develop into strong dancers. At the end of the course, students will perform a 2-3-minute routine incorporating their new skills. A ballet background is very important in mastering the jazz style.
Advanced jazz instruction to elevate your skills.
A good ballet background is very important for students who want to master jazz dance. Students will learn correct jazz vocabulary and the history of the jazz style as well as conditioning skills necessary for strong dancers. Each dance will begin learning advanced jazz combinations and will perform a routine combining those skills at a recital. Among the skills mastered in this class are the triple pirouette, relevee, tondue, grand jete and plie as well as turn-leap combinations and turn variations.
